The Communal Harmony Campaign Week was observed from 19th to 25th by the students and staff of D.A.V. Public School with a lot of enthusiasm and zeal under the able guidance of our respected Principal Sir, Shri Jose Kurian.Circulars regarding the voluntary donations and activities were given to children heralding the Harmony Week well in advance.A poster making competition was held on the 19th November, 2013. The topics for the poster were

- People who have contributed towards communal harmony
- Celebrating festivals together
- Proud to be an Indian
- Education and Communal Harmony
- Global peace and harmony
Around 1000 children took part in the poster making competition.The students decorated around 20 display boards with the messages of peace and harmony, universal brotherhood, significance of the flag, the communal harmony week, information about National Foundation for Communal Harmony and its noble mission.Every day starting from 19th November, students spoke on national integration and communal harmony during the school assembly. The students were encouraged to read the holy books of different religions.On the Flag Day a special programme was organised. Flags were distributed. The school choir sang songs which highlighted the qualities of unity, togetherness and love.Scriptures from different religious holy books like The Gita, The Koran, The Bible, The Gurugranth Sahib and teachings from Jainism, Buddhism were read by children. The theme was brotherhood, peace and harmony.A thought provoking and heart felt message was given by respected Principal Sir,Shri. Jose KurianThe pledge for Communal Harmony was taken by the whole school.A donation box was kept in the school premises. An amount of Rs. 14,588/- was collected.For the whole week, the atmosphere in the school was resonating with feelings of love for the country and its people.
