SWACHH BHARAT, SWACHH VIDYALAYA CAMPAIGN 2014
Mahatma Gandhi, father of the nation belongs to the whole world and to all generations. He stands tall in the gallery of great world leaders and thinkers and his profound humanism is his message. Gandhiji’s politics was intertwined with the practical, day-to-day problems of the millions. His was not a loyalty to abstractions; it was a loyalty to living, human beings.
Paying homage to one of Mahatma Gandhi’s favourite tenets - ‘Cleanliness is next to godliness’ - a weeklong cleanliness drive has been planned in connection with Gandhi Jayanti which aims to spread awareness among the public, especially school students, on the Gandhian views on cleanliness and hygiene.The project, called as Swachh Bharat, Swachh Vidyalaya Campaign which is being held from 25th September,2014 upto 31st October, 2014 in all schools includes mass cleaning programmes and awareness classes on effective waste management in all government offices, schools and houses involving the departments of Education, Health and Local-Self Government.
DAV Public School, Nerul also conducted various programmes in its campus to observe this campaign. Apart from cleaning the premises of schools and their surroundings, the school also organised school-level competitions, assembly, documentaries on Mahatma Gandhi, planting of trees and chart-making activity.
