BARC visit National Science Day celebration 2023

Students of class 9th along with their teachers visited BARC in Anushakti Nagar on 1st March, 2023 as a part of National Science Day celebration. This year the Science Day is being celebrated with the Theme-New Generation Nuclear Reactors to spread awareness on the potential of nuclear power for sustainable development and global well being.

Students had an interactive session where they were shown videos and a lecture was given on the Topic- Promoting Research and Development for Economic Growth. The students won a lot of prizes in the quiz that was conducted.

The students were taken to the Radio Isotope Waste Recycling Plant where they were shown how radio isotopes are extracted from the spent fuel and how the left-over waste is vitrified and stored out of human reach.

The students were shown models of Advanced Heavy Water Reactor along with Dhruva - India's largest nuclear research reactor.

Students were shown Fipla - The place were radiation technologies were used to boost crop productivity, food security and sustainability. The students enjoyed the department of remote handling and robotics.

The educational visit was very insightful and memorable for all.
