INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY

International Yoga Day was celebrated at DAV Public School Nerul on 21st June 2016 in great earnestness and  enthusiasm by all the students and teachers from 7 am to 8 am. A myriad of activities were conducted to celebrate the day in true spirit.

  • The early morning hours of the day saw the mass participation of the students in Pranayam and meditation.
  • Badges were worn by all the students as well as the teaching and non teaching staff of the school.
  •  Musical yoga was conducted for the students and the performance of Asanas according to the beat of music exhibited the perfect coordination of muscles, senses and concentration, and thus the total control over the body and mind.
  • A talk on the relevance of Yoga in today’s fast paced life was held for the students of classes IV to XII. Thereafter, a short video movie “Yoga and Harmony” was shown to the students in order to bring to light the health benefits of individual asanas like Vrikshasana, Shashankasana, Vajrasana, Bhujangasana etc.
  • The students of class VIII, IX and X enthusiastically participated in a Quiz which helped them to learn more about Yoga.
  • An Essay writing competition specially organized for the occasion was also held.
  • There was also a Poster making competition based on topics associated with Yoga and its benefits for the artistically inclined students.
  • A display of Sattvic food was done and the students were encouraged to get sattvic food in their tiffins and so was followed by the school canteen.  

DAV Public School, Nerul reflected the true spirit of International Yoga Day as its very walls seemed to transform into storehouses of knowledge with colorful charts, displaying a wealth of information on Yoga and its deep relevance in the life of modern man. The celebration of International Yoga Day was conducted with a view to inculcating in the minds of the children an interest in Yoga and the importance of maintaining a healthy, stress free life.
